We are delighted to welcome visitors back to the Museum. Although government regulations were relaxed on Monday 19 July 2021, we’re maintaining Covid-secure measures to ensure the safety of our visitors and staff. These measures may be updated, so please check this page before your visit to familiarise yourself with any changes.

If you have any questions or concerns, or would like to discuss our measures further, please contact the Museum.

Entry to the Museum galleries must be pre-booked. Numbers will be limited, and entry timed to ensure that visitors can enjoy the galleries with plenty of space and without the need to follow a specific route. Please arrive within 15 minutes from your entry time. Late arrivals may be refused entry.

Guided tours must be pre-booked. Numbers will be limited. Please arrive in time, but no earlier than 15 minutes before the start of your tour. You will be asked to wait at a designated meeting point for your tour. You will have access to the Museum galleries after your tour.

On arrival at the Museum, whether to visit the galleries or for a tour, every individual over the age of 16 will be asked to provide their name and telephone number for the purposes of NHS Test and Trace. These details will stored securely for 21 days before being destroyed and will be provided to NHS Test and Trace if requested. They will not be used for any other purpose. As an alternative, the Museum also has an official NHS QR code that can be scanned with your NHS COVID-19 app. This is prominently displayed in our entrance area. If you would prefer not to leave your details, please let us know.

Visitors are required to wear a face covering in our galleries, unless they are a child under the age of 11 or are medically exempt.

Hand sanitiser is available at various points on the visitor route, and visitors are requested to make use of this facility on entering the Museum.

Visitors are asked to be respectful of each other and to maintain a distance of 1m. This may mean briefly waiting for other visitors to navigate parts of the galleries and facilities on site, including WCs.

The cloakroom will not be in use and we will not be able to look after luggage. Please only bring with you what you can easily carry.

We have reduced the goods available in our Museum shop, and spaced this to ensure safe browsing. We will accept card and cash payments, but would request you pay by card whenever possible. Hand sanitiser will be available in the shop, and we request that you use this before handling stock.

If you become unwell before your visit, please cancel your ticket. For guided tours you will be issued a full refund if you cancel before the scheduled start of the tour. This can be requested through the ticketing platform. If you have made a donation for your gallery entry ticket, this is not refundable.
