As part of our First World War Centenary exhibition here at the Museum of the Order of St John, the Roll of Honour 1914-1918, usually displayed in our Chapter Hall, has been moved to the St John Ambulance gallery. The Roll of Honour contains the names of the 1,077 members of the Order of St John, volunteers of the St John Ambulance Brigade and members of the Territorial Branch of the St John Ambulance Association, who lost their lives during the First World War.
The Roll of Honour is a beautiful document, with a bound leather cover embossed in gold and numerous coloured examples of heraldry throughout the book, with each name handwritten. The Roll of Honour is laid out with different sections for each District, with each Division in that District listed separately. Each name is given with full surname and initials, their rank and the regiment or Brigade in which they served.
A copy of the Roll of Honour can be viewed here. If you would like to reproduce any part of this book, please contact the Museum.
