An evening lecture in partnership with the St John Historical Society.
The growth of St John Ambulance was accompanied by the acquisition of a variety of objects associated with the Knights Hospitaller. Nigel Hankin will discuss why this was and what it reveals about Victorian attitudes to the Crusades.
Nigel Hankin is an independent scholar. In 2019 he completed an MSt at Kellogg College, Oxford, and his dissertation forms the basis of this talk. He has recently completed an MA in Classics at King’s College London.
Tickets are free and must be pre-booked via the Museum’s Eventbrite page. Donations welcome if you can.
This event will take place in the historic Chapter Hall at St John’s Gate, accessible by stairs only. There is a lift which reduces the number of stairs guests need to ascend. For more information on access please visit our access pages here, or email museum@sja.org.uk
