Join us for a series of descriptive talks and object handling exploring key objects from the Museum’s collection. These free events are for blind and partially-sighted visitors and their companions. Tea and biscuits provided.
This month the talk explores an oil painting by the celebrated artist, Anna Zinkeisen, who volunteered with the St John Ambulance Brigade during the Second World War. The painting was widely reproduced in recruitment posters in the 1950s and portrays a heroic image of a male Brigade Officer and female Nurse. The session will include the opportunity to handle historic uniform from the Museum’s collection of the type worn by the sitters in the painting. Our guides have all been trained by VocalEyes.
This is a free ticketed event and takes place in the Museum Galleries which have step-free access throughout.
