Étaples Weekly Reports

Museum of the Order of St John

The Order of St John established the St John Ambulance Brigade Hospital in Étaples, northern France, during the First World War to care for wounded soldiers. It was a base clearing hospital where staff were responsible for receiving patients and providing them with medical treatment and some level of rehabilitation before sending them on to other hospitals, back out into the field, or home to Britain.

These are some of the weekly reports from the hospital from July 1915 – October 1916. These reports were digitised as part of a Heritage Lottery Fund project in 2014.
