This poster from 1995 shows a Knight of St John, in armour, teaching some St John Ambulance Cadets about the history of the Order.  

St John Ambulance Cadets study different subjects and are awarded badges for each subject they become proficient in – in lots of countries, the core subjects studied are first aid and the history of the Order of St John.  

The Museum is a valuable resource for teaching the history of the Order, and you can find out more about our schools and learning offer here. 

The illustration on this poster is by cartoonist Vangelis Pavlidis, who has been a published political cartoonist and children’s book illustrator since 1971. He grew up in Rhodes, Greece and in 1999 had an exhibition at the Museum of the Order of St John.
