The First Sixty Years of St John Ambulance in Barnet

Museum of the Order of St John

An evening lecture in partnership with the St John Historical Society.

This year the St John Ambulance Division in Barnet celebrates its 120th anniversary. This talk will explore the unit’s origins, development and life-saving activities during the first sixty years. It will draw on newspaper sources and St John records to bring to life the personalities and events involved during both World Wars and beyond.

Stephen Krause has been in St John Ambulance since 1978. He has always had an interest in the Order of St John, especially in the local area. The Division in Barnet and the Fellowship have gathered a large collection of over 2000 heritage items and pictures of Barnet and other divisions in the Borough of Barnet co-ordinated by Stephen. Stephen is also Chair of the St John Historical Society.

Tickets are free and must be pre-booked via the Museum’s Eventbrite page. Donations welcome if you can.

This event will take place in the historic Chapter Hall at St John’s Gate, accessible by stairs only. There is a lift which reduces the number of stairs guests need to ascend. For more information on access please visit our access pages here, or email museum@sja.org.uk
