Discover more about the Order of St John, St John Ambulance and the history of Clerkenwell at our free Ten-Minute Talk and Tea events which takes place on the second Thursday of every month. Tea and biscuits will be provided.
St John Ambulance Cadets have been serving their communities and saving lives for over 100 years. This junior wing of what used to be called the St John Ambulance Brigade was inaugurated in March 1922 with the aim of offering young people the opportunity to learn to be responsible citizens, whilst also having fun and embarking on adventures such as camping expeditions. Although many of the activities Cadets participate in have changed over time, serving others, particularly those who are suffering or in need, has remained their constant priority throughout the century. In this 10–minute talk we will explore just some of the acts of bravery undertaken by these young volunteers from wartime rescues to flood relief work and lifesaving first aid.
This is a free event. Drop-ins welcome, or you can pre-register here. The event will take place in the Museum Galleries which are on ground level with step-free access throughout.
