Hypericum perforatum or, as it is more commonly known, St John’s Wort is a herbal medicine that for centuries has been used to treat a variety of different illnesses, including depression, anxiety and sleep disorders. St John’s Wort owes its name to the fact that it flowers around St John’s Day on 24 June. In the Cloister Garden at the Museum of the Order of St John we have a number of different types of St John’s Wort, including an aquatic plant and a plant that’s native to Malta. Business Development Manager, Claudia Chalmers will explore the uses of St John’s Wort and its connection to the Order of St John.
This is a free event. Drop-ins welcome, or you can pre-register here. The event will take place in the Museum Galleries which are on ground level with step-free access throughout.
