Jerusalem continues to be a very important city to many faiths. The Church of the Holy Sepulchre, at the centre of the old city, includes the site of Christ’s crucifixion, and is a centre of Christian pilgrimage. Models such as this were produced as expensive tourist souvenirs. The model comes to pieces, revealing the architectural details of the building.
