A Royal Visitor: Henry II at the Priory of the Order of St John

On 10th March 1185, Henry II assembled a council at the Priory of the Knights of St John of Jerusalem in Clerkenwell. At this meeting, he turned down the opportunity to go on crusade, despite the urgings of the Patriarch of Jerusalem. Come along to learn about this fateful council and have a look at some of the archaeology from the period that has been found on the site of the priory.

Please be aware that this 10 minute talk will be taking place in our Crypt. Unfortunately, the Crypt is not fully accessible. If you would like to hear the talk, but will not be able to make it down the stairs, do let us know and we can present the talk a second time.

*Museum Talk and Tea takes place on the second Wednesday of each month. All are welcome.
