Museum of the Order of St John

Talented, vivacious, stylish, and sassy; they were the Zinkeisen sisters!

Now largely forgotten, Doris and Anna Zinkeisen were once the toast of London’s society.  During the 1920s and 30s they were the bright young things of the art world, rubbing shoulders with the likes of John Gielgud, Noel Coward, and Laurence Olivier.

This 10 minute talk will examine the lives of these women away from the smoky jazz clubs and the swanky parties. Among other things, we will explore the contributions that they made to the war effort as St John Ambulance and British Red Cross volunteers.
